Virtual Sailing - Background
The Covid 19 Pandemic and Lockdown has kept the PRYC Fleets firmly locked away from our sailing waters of Poole & Longham.
Our members however still need an outlet for competitive and social interaction, so courtesy of our de facto Head of Virtual Sailing, Chris Hague, PRYC has joined the Virtual Sailing/Racing movement and now has Virtual Racing twice a week.
Racing Starts 8th February and continues until the end of March 2021.
Entry is open to PRYC members from all classes, to take part simply visit the Members Page for contact and entry information.
To follow the results, check out the Results page
A Word from Chris Hague:
After a week of setting up and practice we start our Virtual Regatta on Monday at 10.00hrs and a separate series on Thursday starting at the same time.
I will send out the code for the five races at about 09.45hrs
Michael Brophy has already set up the website with “boxes” for the results to appear in, up until the end of March. The results, thanks to Phil, will then be posted on the club website. Please remember to keep a note of your own race positions for all 5 races as back-up for Phil.
Phil will also run Skype so that we can chat about the racing. I use a separate device, iPad or smart phone, for this. (I must remember to turn off the volume on my laptop to prevent everyone hearing the annoying wind noise in the background!)
By going on the VR site and joining in the training races you can gain tokens for free. You can then use these for race helps and to personalise your 49er that we will be sailing.
We are back racing again - virtually!
Above all, enjoy.
